(archived)Reading Log 2023
I grossly slacked off in the reading department last year [and the year before that. and the year before THAT] so I set myself the goal of reading more this year. however vague that goal is.
see here for this year's reading log!

YES i am aware this is a children's book. but i hit a slump in february (source: the last book i finished was at the start of january. its now practically april.) after starting On The Road by Jack Kerouac. I was really really devastated that it didnt live up to my expectations because it was a book ive wanted to read for about 5 years. and then I just could not enjoy it. that alone put me off reading for a good few weeks until i picked up The Luminaries by Eleanor Catton. This book is actually REALLY fuckin good it's just also fucking LONG. i needed to actually finish a story and feel like i was making progress so i moved on to shorter books. hence the children's gothic. I loved this book as a kid but could never bring myself to re-read it for over a decade after i finished it. but i was bored one night and finally picked it back up and ate through it in like 2 hours its really not that long. anyway. the defence rests.
